About Me

My photo
I am a native of New Orleans but currently live in the DC metro area. The things that I enjoy the most in life are photography, lending a helping a hand to those around me, traveling, cooking, and the taste of great wines. I believe that life should be lived out loud and that the greatest tradjedy is to not live your life to the absolute fullest and that you should do so without fear of failure to just simply try.

I Didn't Know My Own Strength

This week, I watch the two day Whitney Houston interview on Oprah and was intrigued by her story. But on day two when she sang her new song, I Didn't Know My Own Strength, I was moved to tears. I felt her pain and the power in the song's message. I couldn't help but to think of ALL of the things that I had overcome; the lost of my Grandmother, Great-Grandmothers and Grandfather, a failed marriage, financial difficulties, the lost of friendships and romantic relationships, betrayals, back stabbings and many other disappointments along the way. The thoughts of my own past situations made me cry a little harder. But then I looked around and realized how Blessed I am and that "Sometimes Not getting What I Wanted was The Better Blessing". But more importantly, I Didn't Know My Own Strength!

"I crashed down, I tumbled but I did not crumble. I got thru all the pain. I did not know my own strength." (Whitney Houston). You are stronger than your circumstances. You are a child of God and therefore have his power on your side. What is stronger than that? Even in your darkest hour, even when it seems that there isn't a way out don't give up or loose faith. You were not built to break. You are strong and will make it thru.

Know your own strength!
