"To speak up for the pleasures of love and against the injustices of life is to speak up for everything that God loves and represents". How powerful is that statement? It is not always easy to stand up for what you believe in or to fight injustice but how can you not do these two things and still hold your head up with dignity? In my opinion, you can't. Often times we place priority over other's opinion of us over speaking the truth. But my view on that is...."Never let another person's negative opinion of you become your opinion of yourself." How many times have you been in the company of someone who behaves in a manner that degrades others but out of fear of becoming an outcast, you simply laughed at the insensitive joke or kept quite and pretended like it was ok? Trust me when I say, it is not ok. By not speaking the truth, you betray yourself and go against all that which God expects of you.
Women in particular struggle with this self-betraying behavior. We don't want to be perceived as troublemakers or nags or even worst a "Bitch". You've heard the saying "Men who speak up are leaders; women who speak up are bitches". My response to that is..."Well-behaved women rarely changed history"! I am also reminded of the words of Lorraine Hansberry "that which makes you exceptional, if you are at all, is what also makes you lonely". Given that, I still stand strong in my beliefs that no matter the circumstances or the precept ion of who you may think I am, I will always stand firm and be the truth that I want to see in others!
Peace & Love,

About Me
- Rae
- I am a native of New Orleans but currently live in the DC metro area. The things that I enjoy the most in life are photography, lending a helping a hand to those around me, traveling, cooking, and the taste of great wines. I believe that life should be lived out loud and that the greatest tradjedy is to not live your life to the absolute fullest and that you should do so without fear of failure to just simply try.
